EdgeCraft I.R.R. is a re-inforcement ring cut during the lathing process that is an integral part of the shell, not a glue-in ring. The benefit of I.R.R. is the strength and rigidity gained where it is needed, at the outside edges of the shell. This feature allows for the overall body of the shell to be thinner which produces a lower fundamental pitch and maximum resonance. The net effect is a richer, beefier, and more musical tone.
Since the inception of this feature, it has grown to be a mainstay in our shell construction process and is ordered for nearly every custom drum we make. We HIGHLY recommend EdgeCraft.
