Artisan Lugs

Our drums come with your choice of classic tube lugs or our very own Artisan Sphere single point lugs, designed in house. Sphere lugs are machined from solid brass , polished by hand and clear lacquered for protection. Classic tube lugs are available in chrome, brass, or black nickel.

Artisan Wood Hoops

Artisan Hoops are custom made, segment-designed hoops and can be crafted to perfectly match your drum(s) or to provide aesthetic contrast. Our wood hoops are precision lathed. A recessed cut under the hoop fully conceals the drum head collar. Tension rod holes are also recessed, allowing the tension rod to be below the playing surface thereby eliminating any interference while playing.

While wood hoops tend to dry up the overall sound of the drum, attenuating some of the unwanted overtones found in metal hoops, they also open up the sound of the drum and maximize warm, wood tone. The cross-stick sound is superb! Aesthetically, wood hoops add a custom, organic appearance to your Artisan Drumworks drum(s).

Note: Custom wood hoops are only available as an upgrade to the purchase of a Session King snare drum or drum set.

EdgeCraft (I.R.R.)

EdgeCraft I.R.R. is a re-inforcement ring cut during the lathing process that is an integral part of the shell, not a glue-in ring. The benefit of I.R.R. is the strength and rigidity gained where it is needed, at the outside edges of the shell. This feature allows for the overall body of the shell to be thinner which produces a lower fundamental pitch and maximum resonance.

Bearing Edge

Finishes

We offer 4 finish types to enhance the natural beauty of your drum(s): Hand rubbed Oil/Wax, Satin Lacquer, Artisan Polish and Mirror Gloss. Select the desired finish for each drum you are purchasing.

Hand rubbed Oil & Wax exhibits a soft, natural wood glow.

Satin Lacquer has a silky, medium sheen appearance and offers a higher degree of protection compared to Oil & Wax.

Artisan Polish (TM) is our favorite "in the wood" finish. It is comprised of a hand polishing process blending the warm character of shellac, varnish, and natural wax. This proprietary finish results in a glossy, yet natural appearance. A very exquisite and durable finish.

Mirror Gloss (TM) is the ultimate in a wet, glass smooth appearance. This high-end finish is has a UV component that will maintain it's pristine clarity for the life of the drum(s).
