Solid (one-ply) shell manufacture is a process that has been around for many years and through that span of time has been perfected. Our shell recipe combines select tone-woods, shell thickness and bearing edges to produce the optimal composition for tone, sensitivity, and projection.

Vintage Custom snare drums are handcrafted from a single ply of hardwood. Shells are made by steam bending and reinforcement rings are added for shell integrity and stabiltiy. These are turned to exacting standards (.005") on CNC lathes.

Solid shell snare drums are favorites among many top professionals and are prized for their unique tonal qualities.

These lugs have been designed in house. They are machined from solid brass, plated and polished proudly in the U.S.A. Select from one of 3 styles and four finishes. Tube lugs are for snare drums only and come in 8 and 10 lug configurations. All toms and bass drums are outfitted with the Artisan Sphere lug.

We offer five distinct plated finish choices. All tom brackets, spurs, strainer and butt, hoops and lugs can be finished for a perfect match and unique appearance. We use the same plating and polishing company for hardware as we use for our lugs. Select the desired hardware finish for each type of drum you are purchasing.

Finishes

We offer 3 finish types to enhance the natural beauty of your drums: Hand rubbed Oil/Wax, Satin Lacquer and Mirror Gloss. Select the desired finish for each drum you are purchasing.

Hand rubbed Oil & Wax exhibits a soft, natural wood glow.

Satin Lacquer has a silky, medium sheen appearance and offers a higher degree of protection compared to Oil & Wax.

Mirror Gloss (TM) is the ultimate in a wet, glass smooth appearance. This high-end finish is has a UV component that will maintain it's pristine clarity for the life of the drum(s).

Use this option in combination with your Snare Drum purchase to add a custom Exotic Wood Species. Exotics include African Bubinga, Leopardwood, Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry), and African Mahogany.
Premium Exotics are Cocobolo and Honduran Rosewood.
